Button Rock Bakery Croissant

Back to it! Training with Neal Henderson of APEX Coaching is back underway for the season. Today was a solid 5 hours with my friend Spencer Powlison – with a mid ride croissant at Button Rock Bakery as a highlight. Hands down.

After worlds, I took a few weeks away from the bike – with the 3rd week being a ski trip to Alta for a friend’s bachelor party. Not awful. Plenty of ski touring mixed with a couple resort days. A perfect way to wrap up a little break from riding!

2014 Cyclocross Nationals are here – wear a gopher shirt, win Smith Audible aviators

The nice people at Smith Optics have given me a pair of really fancy Audible Chromapop Polarized Aviators to give away! (see photo) So, in conjunction with my little guerrilla campaign of CX supporters club T shirts, we’re going to have a contest on Sunday. Here’s how to play: 1. Get a shirt. Sunday at the race, come by the Raleigh Bicycles – Clement Cycling team tent in the expo near Breeze Bars and the RockyMounts army tent. We’ll be pretty busy the hour before the race so try to come early. Also, I will make some available tonight at the RockyMounts Guest Bartender party: https://www.facebook.com/events/374111359402185. The shirts are free, one per person. Supplies limited.Read More →

Climbing up Rabbit Mountain on a cold day in December

Training in the winter can be cold – who would’ve thought? Out today on the road with Taylor Shelden, Alex Howes and Shawn Milne on Rabbit Mountain during a ride in the 20’s. Good stories and half baked ideas help to pass the time.

Winning, pointing to the names that made it possible. Photo: Dejan Smaic

A great day of racing on a fantastic course with perfect conditions, the best equipment and the best help is more or less a good summary of how Sunday’s Colorado State Championship Cyclocross Race went down for me. Majority of images used provided by Dejan Smaic – thanks Dejan! Also a couple from from Terri Smith via Facebook, great shots Terri. I was third row at the start (low number of CO CX Cup points as I haven’t been racing locally often this year) which made for a little homework early on – positioned around 10th going into the slippery front end of the course. allen krughoff's cyclocross bike

This is my whip (or ‘ride’ you might say). Simply awesome. I ride the 53cm frameset, rolling on Metron 40 Disc wheelsets from Vision. An FSA cockpit and cranks, TRP Spyre brakes, and Prologo saddle round out the mix.

allen krughoff cyclocross shoes

This season I’ve been racing in the new Pearl Izumi X-Project 1.0 shoes. I was wear testing a pair of prototypes during the year prior and was concerned with the stiffness under the balls of the foot – I felt like it just wasn’t firm enough. Happy to say they took this into account and nailed it with the production version of the shoe that I’m riding now. The concept with the X-Project is a shoe that flexes when you run or walk in them and is stiff while you pedal – a perfect shoe for cyclocross. I’ve raced in shoes with extreme stiffness ratingsRead More →

Post race interview with Allen Krughoff at the 2013 Deschutes Brewery Cup cyclocross race

The coldest race I’ve ever had the pleasure to partake in, finishing up 7th in the dark at the Deschutes Brewery Cup C1 Cyclocross Race. Watch the post race interview from CyclingDirt below for the details.
